While writing the article and preparing the photo gallery on
the seizure of Fokker E.III 196/16 in the spring of 1916, I couldn't help but
feel that the circumstances under which this aircraft fell into the hands of
the French forces were unusual, to say the least. With the help of Greg
VanWyngarden, I gained further insight into the role of the French airmen
involved in capturing this machine.
The circumstances surrounding the capture of another Fokker
E.III by British forces just a few days earlier are also far from clear. I was

Při psaní článku a přípravě fotogalerie o ukořistění Fokkeru
E.III 196/16 na jaře 1916 jsem se nemohl zbavit pocitu, že okolnosti, za jakých
tento letoun padl do rukou francouzských sil, byly mírně řečeno neobvyklé. Při
jeho přípravě se mi s pomocí Grega VanWyngardena podařilo také vnést více
informací do účasti francouzských letců, kteří se na ukořistění tohoto stroje
podíleli.
A nemohu říct, že by okolnosti, za jakých byl o několik dnů
dříve ukořistěn jiný Fokker E.III britskými silami, byly o moc jasnější.
