Flying Knights – 9th Fighter Squadron, 49th Fighter Group

In the March issue of INFO Eduard magazine, I prepared a somewhat longer text focused on the early combat operations of the 9th FS, 49th FG in Australia during 1942, up until their transfer to New Guinea. In writing the article, I relied on published works by renowned authors who specialize in this theater of war, but I also supplemented the information with operational records from Japanese units. The descriptions of the P-40 profiles in my article and on other pages of this issue were prepared by my colleague Richard Plos. I would like to thank my colleague Alena Čechová for her assistance in processing Japanese sources. V březnovém vydání magazínu INFO Eduard jsem připravil trochu delší text, který je zaměřen na počátky bojových operací 9th FS, 49th FG v Austrálii během roku 1942 až do přesunu na Novou Guineu. Při zpracování textu jsem se opíral o publikované práce renomovaných autorů, kteří se tomuto bojišti věnují, ale doplňující informace z japonské strany jsem čerpal z operačních záznamů japonských jednotek. Popisky ke strojům P-40 v mém článku a na dalších stránkách tohoto vydání připravil kolega Richard Plos. Za pomoc při zpracování japonských zdrojů děkuji kolegyni Aleně Čechové.
